Model United Nations

The Model United Nations Society hosted the 4th annual School of Law CHRIST (Deemed to be University) International Model United Nations Conference on the 14th, 15th and 16th of January, 2016.
This conference witnessed participation from 250 students from schools and colleges across India.

The Inauguration Ceremony:
SLCUMUN 2016 was inaugurated in the Main Auditorium on 14th January, 2016 at 9:00AM. I was attended by all the participants of the conference and all the students of School of Law, CHRIST (Deemed to be University).
The presiding officer for the Inaugural Ceremony was Rev. Dr. Fr. Thomas C. Mathew, Vice-Chancellor, CHRIST (Deemed to be University).
The Chief Guest was Dr. Joanne Katz, Professor, Missouri State Western University, Missouri, United States of America.
The Guest of Honour was Mr. Danish Sheikh, Alternative Law Forum, Bengaluru.

The members on the dais gave illuminating speeches ranging from global politics, international law, juvenile justice, the right to self-determination and human rights. The formal ceremony was followed by an interactive session between the students of SLCU and Dr. Joanne Katz and Mr. Danish Sheikh.
The venue for the conference was 5th floor, 4th Block, CHRIST (Deemed to be University). The formal session of the conference began at 10:30AM on 14th January, 2016. The newsletter overleaf provides a brief on the conference proceedings.

The Valedictory Ceremony:
Three days of intense debate concluded on 16th January, 2016 at the Valedictory Ceremony that took place at the 4th Block Auditorium.
The Chief Guest was Prof. David Tushaus, Professor, Missouri State Western University, Missouri, United States of America.
The Agendas for the respective committees this year:
United Nations General Assembly: Effects of Foreign Intervention in International and Non International Armed Conflicts.
United Nations Security Council: The Situation in Syria and Iraq with focus on Developing Measures to Counter the ISIS.
United Nations Human Rights Council: Draft policy on refugee and asylum doctrines with special reference to the current European refugee crisis.
FédérationInternationale de Football Association (FIFA):
(I)Deliberation and Simulation of the election of the new President. (II)Deliberation on the suspension of Israeli membership from FIFA

All India Political Parties Meet:
(I)Revisiting the viability of Capital Punishment in lights of the latest Judicial and Non-Judicial Developments.
(II) Reviewing the Doctrinal shift in India's foreign policy with emphasis on Pakistan.
